We joined Cajun Encounters swamp boat tour during Mardi Gras visit. It was an amazing experience. This is not an affiliated video and there are other options other than joining Cajun. But if you do happen to join the tour from Cajun Encounters, I recommended joining Gary's tour boat. I learnt a lot from his stories.
Honey Island Swamp is located about 45 minutes to an hour away from New Orleans. Cajun does offer shuttle service pick up from near by hotel. I suggest to take shuttles, especially during Mardi Gras period.
